Our Services: Helping Horley Stay Active

Whether it’s a sudden back tweak from lifting the shopping or a long-term niggle that just won’t clear, we’re here to help.
We don’t believe in "one size fits all" healthcare.
We combine traditional Osteopathy with modern tools like Acupuncture and Ultrasound to get you back to your best.
The welcoming treatment room at Newhill Osteopathy, a local osteopath serving Horley and the surrounding Surrey area.

The Core Services:

Osteopathy

The Whole-Body Fix. Looking at the root cause of your pain, not just the symptoms.
Osteopath in Horley providing manual therapy and stretching for a patient's back pain.
The "whole-body" approach to getting you back on your feet.
At its heart, osteopathy is about looking at the big picture. We don’t just look at the bit that’s "playing up"; we look at how your whole body is moving (or not moving!) as a team. Whether it’s a stiff neck from a desk job or a hip that’s been grumbling since a long walk around Priory Park, we’re here to find the root cause, not just patch up the symptoms.

What do we actually do? We use a variety of hands-on techniques tailored specifically to you. There’s no "one size fits all" here. Depending on what you need, a session might include:

  • Gentle Stretching & Mobilisation: To improve your range of motion.

  • Rhythmic Joint Movements: To ease stiffness and get things "oiled" again.

  • Targeted Massage: To soothe tired or overworked muscles.

  • The "Click" (if appropriate): Known as manipulation, these quick movements can help restore function to a stubborn joint.

Medical Acupuncture

Targeted Relief. Using fine needles to reset "stuck" muscles and "knots."

Medical acupuncture treatment for muscle tension and trigger point release at a Surrey osteopathic clinic.
Releasing deep-seated tension and calming those "hot" spots.
If you’ve got a muscle that feels like it’s permanently "knotted up" or a persistent ache that just won’t budge with a standard rub-down, Medical Acupuncture might be exactly what the doctor ordered.
What exactly is it? Unlike traditional acupuncture which focuses on energy lines, we use a "Western Medical" approach. We place tiny, sterile, single-use needles directly into "trigger points"—those tight bands of muscle that are causing you grief.
How can it help you? It’s a fantastic tool for getting the body to "reset" itself. By carefully placing a needle, we can:
  • Switch off the pain signal: It encourages the brain to release its own natural painkillers (endorphins).
  • Relax "stuck" muscles: The needle helps the muscle fibers to finally let go and lengthen.
  • Improve local circulation: This brings fresh blood to the area to help clear out the "cobwebs" and speed up repair.
"But I'm not a fan of needles..." We hear that a lot! Most patients are pleasantly surprised to find they barely feel the needles going in—it’s nothing like having a blood test or a flu jab. You might feel a dull ache or a little "twitch" as the muscle releases, but that’s actually a great sign that we’ve hit the right spot.
As always, we’ll have a thorough consultation first. If you’re a bit needle-shy, we’ll never push you; we have plenty of other tricks up our sleeve to get you moving comfortably again.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Deep Healing. Sound-wave technology to speed up soft tissue repair.

Therapeutic ultrasound being used to treat a soft tissue injury and reduce inflammation in a clinical setting.
Targeted healing for those stubborn soft-tissue niggles.
While most of us associate ultrasound with seeing a baby for the first time, it’s also an incredibly effective bit of kit for treating aches and pains. If you’ve got an injury that’s feeling particularly inflamed or a joint that’s been "playing up" for weeks, ultrasound can often reach the bits that manual therapy alone might find tricky.
How does it work? It isn't just a fancy massage! We use a handheld device to send high-frequency sound waves deep into your muscles and tendons. This creates a gentle "micro-massage" at a cellular level, which helps to:
  • Reduce Inflammation: Perfect for those acute "ouch" moments.
  • Speed Up Recovery: It encourages blood flow to the area, giving your body’s natural healing process a bit of a leg-up.
  • Break Down Scar Tissue: Brilliant for older injuries that never quite felt "right" again.
What does it feel like? In a word: Relaxing. You’ll feel a slight warming sensation as we move the applicator over the skin with a bit of cooling gel. It’s completely non-invasive, painless, and a very safe way to get you back to your best.
Is it right for me? Whether it’s a stubborn bout of tennis elbow or a ligament strain from a weekend run, we’ll always have a proper chat and assessment first to make sure ultrasound is the safest and most effective path for your recovery.

Is it safe? Absolutely. As Osteopaths, we are primary healthcare professionals. This means we’re trained to perform a full clinical screening at your first appointment. If we find that your niggle isn't quite right for osteopathy, we have a direct line to refer you back to your GP or a specialist. Your safety is always our first priority.
